THE TEAPOT.
I brought this teapot with me because it resembles me very much. It inherited Chinese culture, grew up in the blessed land of Taiwan, and then went to Scotland. The Heart Sūtra is engraved on the pot’s body, reminding me to focus on my inner peace. It is moderate in size, suitable for drinking alone and refreshing with tea; suitable for sipping in groups and meeting friends with tea; suitable for appreciating tea in tranquillity. It made me understand that I inherited tea heritage. The small teapot is like an ark, carrying my life. So, I can sing, "My hometown is where my heart is at ease".
負笈遠赴他鄉之時，能攜帶的物品有限，但茶仍是不可割捨之物。我帶著這支茶壺，因為它像極了我，繼承了中華文化、生長於福地台灣，後又遠赴蘇格蘭。壺身上刻印著心經，時時提醒我關注本心。它的大小適中，宜獨飲，以茶滌心；宜群啜，以茶會友；宜賞玩，以茶靜觀。它讓我理解我即是文化載體，小小的壺卻如方舟，伴我他鄉也能輕唱「我心安處是吾鄉」。-汪筱薔
